Customer Email from October 8th, 2011 Dive Trip

Over the past several days we received numerous emails and phone calls asking about the condition of a fellow diver during a Yukon dive trip on Saturday October 8th.

We just received the following email on Oct 12th at 11:15am and decided to, with her permission, post this on our website for all to read.

Waterhorse Charters (The Humbodlt)

To all the crew and especially Captain Ryan,

Thank you so much for all that you did for me on Saturday October 8, 2011. I am 100% sure that if Captain Ryan had not dove in and rescued me, I wouldn't be here to write this!

I realize that it's the job of the crew to protect the divers, but saying that is one thing and doing it is quite another. Captain Ryan risked his own life to save mine.

There is a tendency when things go wrong to want to blame and point fingers. Human nature being what it is, I think that is the natural progression of how we try to cope with accidents/mishaps.  I write this to say though, that the crew of the Humbodlt did what they thought best and acted accordingly. I am alive today because they were there to assist me.  I am thankful for their support.  I hope that anyone reading this recognizes, that in every action or inaction we can look back and analyze.  In the moment though, there is not that luxury.  There is only...'this is happening, what do I do now?!'  Fortunately for me, the answer was...'to rescue the distressed diver.'

I am a new diver.  I have much to learn.  I am eager to get back out there, learning from my experiences in the hopes of becoming a better diver.  If the crew of the Humbodlt can tolerate me coming aboard again sometime in the future, I would be happy to place my trust in them again.  Don't worry guys..I think everyone will be happy to hear that I want to get a few more shore dives under my belt before I try it again.

With my sincerest thanks,

Kerrie B.
